Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning
Make it stand out
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Hard to believe it’s been 30 years since this franchise started but here we are. I was still in grade school when the first one came out but I don’t recall watching it. My interest in all things movies probably didn’t hit me until I was in high school. So sometime between 2001-2005 is when I would have seen the first one.
I was lucky enough to see 2 screenings for this film and just blown away each time. Tom Cruise is an absolute mad man. Just when you think he can’t outdo himself that’s exactly what he does. As with each film in this franchise, the stunts just keep getting bigger and bigger and in this final film, there are a few but 2 that come to my mind. Those would be the airplane scene and the underwater scene as each of them had their own unique set of challenges that leave the audience on their edge of their seat wondering what will happen to Ethan Hunt. Both are those ones you just have to see it to see how it plays out.
If you do watch this movie just keep in mind it is nearly 3 hours long but does have that finality to it. They really went all out to tie in as much of the previous entries to this and in my opinion it was done beautifully. Definitely one or two of them that came as a surprise. I did re-watch all of the films this year in anticipation of this release so a lot if it was fresh in my mind, however if it has been awhile since you’ve seen them, the surprises will be shocking as it is satisfying.
All in all the story plays out just like the ones before it. High stakes and the IMF trying to pull of the impossible. Its what we’ve come to expect and what I enjoy seeing. It’s hard to believe that this will be it but never say never with Tom. That’s not to say that this film wasn’t a fitting end to the franchise because it was but you could also say maybe it was just a fitting end to Ethan Hunt’s journey. In any case if we don’t get another MI entry after this, it won’t hurt my feelings but it would be interesting to see if they do move forward without Ethan as the titular character, where could it possibly go. If you’ve been a fan of this franchise definitely check this one out and as they say, this review will self-destruct in 5 seconds. *poof*
